On April 10, the 2011 All-Italian Basketball League for International Students, composed of nine teams, came to an end in Bologna. The University of Patova basketball team finally won the championship trophy after several hard struggles. On the evening of the 11th, Zhou Honghai, leader of the Patova University Basketball Team and executive vice president of the Venice Overseas Chinese Association, held a celebration banquet for all the players and staff at the Xinxinya Hotel in Mestri. Wang Liukang, assistant to the president of the Venice Overseas Chinese Association, first delivered a speech to congratulate the University of Patua basketball team on winning the championship. The captain of the team and the director of the Sports Center of the University of Patua also delivered speeches, thanking the Overseas Chinese Association of Venice for its generous sponsorship, and thanking Zhou Honghai and other overseas Chinese leaders for their deep hopes and strong support. They said that the trophy was hard-won, but it was the hard work of the overseas Chinese. This trophy should be dedicated to the Venice Overseas Chinese Association, which sponsors the team. Zhou Honghai said that this year’s Overseas Students Basketball League is an important event of the China-Italy Cultural Year. Italian President Napolida personally signed a congratulatory letter to the organizing committee, and my country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Embassy and other departments also sent congratulatory messages.
