On August 12, 2011, the 26th Universiade kicked off in Shenzhen. The World University Games are known as the “Little Olympics”.

The 26th Universiade is the highest-level and largest sports event held in Shenzhen so far. There are a total of 24 competition events, the most ever, and 302 competition events are planned, which means 302 gold medals.

The Universiade Village is located in the newly built campus of Shenzhen Information Vocational and Technical College in Longgang District, Shenzhen. It is adjacent to the Universiade Center in the north and is surrounded by convenient transportation. The total construction area is approximately 478,000 square meters. The “two pavilions in one venue” of the Universiade Center is like a bright crystal stone inlaid in Longgang. It has become one of the landmark buildings in Shenzhen. At present, the construction of Universiade venues, supporting facilities and various infrastructure in Longgang Division has been basically completed. In order to strengthen the organization and leadership of event support work, the Longgang Division Committee has also established 15 functional departments and established 18 competition and training venue operation teams. Peripheral support work such as medical and health care, transportation, tourist accommodation, municipal security and emergency duty has also been carried out. We are pressing forward.
