On December 15, 32 overseas Chinese delegations from the consular district of the Chinese Embassy in Italy gathered at the Italian Zhongtian Hotel in Rome to hold a welcome reception for the newly arrived Ambassador Li Ruiyu. About 180 people including Counselors Qi Han and Yao Cheng of the Embassy in Italy and representatives of overseas Chinese delegations attended the event.
Ambassador Li delivered a passionate speech. He introduced the domestic situation and China-Italy relations, emphasizing that China is currently committed to comprehensively deepening reforms, which will consolidate the good momentum of economic and social development and have a positive impact on the recovery of the world economy. Against this background, the development of Sino-Italian relations faces unprecedented opportunities. Ambassador Li encouraged the overseas Chinese to maintain relations with and support the development of the motherland and make new contributions to expanding Sino-Italian cooperation and friendly exchanges. Ambassador Li said that he would work hard to fulfill his mission and work with everyone to promote the continuous expansion and deepening of the China-Italy comprehensive strategic partnership.
On behalf of all overseas Chinese in Rome, Chen Shaomin, President of the Federation of Chinese Overseas Chinese in Rome, warmly welcomed Ambassador Li on his assumption of office and said that overseas Chinese in Italy will be proactive, unite and help each other to achieve greater development and play a bridging role in promoting exchanges and cooperation between China and Italy.
