Answer: I have no talent for languages. I was even very dull when I was a child. My family was very worried and wrote to my ancestors asking what to do. The ancestor of the family wrote back: “You are a late bloomer, don’t worry.” A great sage named Wang Yangming came out of his hometown. If you can’t speak at the age of six, you haven’t become a world-famous scholar. I have been taught by my father since I was a child, learning Chinese, ancient Chinese, ancient poetry, English, Japanese, Russian at school, and French for four years in the 1970s. As a result, none of the English, French, and Russian languages were of any use. I was still Japanese, and I worked as a Japanese translator for six years.
Reporter: How is the career of a translator?
Answer: Translation is very hard, especially simultaneous translation. If there is not enough time to prepare in advance, and lack of preparation, the translation will be stuck on the spot and can only be exchanged. Being in the public eye, my self-esteem and self-confidence were greatly bruised. Fortunately, I haven’t had this experience. I was the only one who adjusted it up, and no one adjusted it down. In addition, translations are also famous in history. For example, the words “sauna” and “mousse” were created by me based on the transliteration. Now that it is being used overwhelmingly, I feel very proud.
Reporter: You introduced production, can you tell us about your life experience?
Answer: My life experience is different, which determines that the path I take is also different. My grandfather Huang Guang was a classmate of Xu Xilin and Qiu Jin. He was one of the founders of the Guangfu Society and left his name in the history of the Revolution of 1911. He is a politician, writer and collector.
