Hong Kong police have arrested more than 30 people, including several Japanese porn industry stars, as part of a massive operation aimed at disrupting an international prostitution ring targeting wealthy clients.
The network, active in Hong Kong, Singapore and Macau, offered sexual services at extremely high prices, with some transactions fetching as much as HK$150,000 (approximately US$19,000).
The company, which is controlled by a local union, uses social media to promote its services, capitalizing on the fame of Japanese adult film actresses to attract wealthy clients.
Hong Kong police, working with authorities in Singapore and Japan, carried out a series of coordinated raids, arresting key members of the union as well as several sex workers, including celebrities in Japan’s porn industry.
Meanwhile, police dismantled another prostitution network in the city controlled by a triad-affiliated gang. The second network exploited women from mainland China, Thailand, Kazakhstan and Laos.
