In terms of ecological civilization, Fannie pointed out that China and Canada share a common language. China’s decision to establish a national park system in this round of reform is also based on the successful practices of Canada and other Western countries. Environmental issues respect no national boundaries. It is expected that China’s reform measures will create new highlights for China-Canada ecological and environmental cooperation.
Regarding cultural exchanges between China and Canada, Fannie pointed out that in the process of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, the role of overseas Chinese and Chinese-funded institutions cannot be ignored. Toronto is a world-renowned “multicultural city” with nearly 700,000 overseas Chinese living and working in Toronto. Overseas Chinese communities, cultural, educational and artistic groups are active and talents are emerging in large numbers. The vast number of overseas Chinese can undertake cultural exchange projects between China and Canada in appropriate ways and bring into play their unique advantages and roles. It is sincerely hoped that all overseas Chinese will serve as “civilian ambassadors” to promote China-Canada friendship and play a greater role in promoting Chinese culture overseas. (over)
