On January 11, 2011, a symposium on the publication and distribution of “Zhejiang Overseas Chinese Chronicle” was held in Hangzhou Overseas Chinese Building. More than 20 people attended the meeting, including representatives of the editorial committee and editorial office members from all over the province, and members of the Provincial Overseas Chinese Research Association. Wang Xiaofeng, director of the Provincial Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, attended the meeting and delivered an important speech.
“Chronicles of Overseas Chinese in Zhejiang Province” is one of the Zhejiang Provincial Chronicles series and the first chronicle of overseas Chinese in Zhejiang Province. It is edited by Professor Zhou Wangsen, an expert on overseas Chinese history in Zhejiang Province and founder and former director of the Overseas Chinese Research Center of Zhejiang Normal University, and published by Zhejiang Ancient Books Publishing House. In addition to the preface, overview, and major events, the journal consists of “going abroad and its evolution, economy, culture, associations, communities, and social life and customs, contributions to the country of residence and ancestral (home) country, overseas Chinese hometown, overseas Chinese affairs, overseas Chinese research, and related It consists of ten parts including overseas Chinese media and characters. The journal provides a relatively comprehensive and systematic account of the development trajectory of overseas Chinese and overseas Chinese affairs in Zhejiang before 1998, and plays a positive role in “preserving history, educating people, and providing information for governance.” Its publication not only fills the gap in the history of overseas Chinese in Zhejiang Province, but also provides important historical materials for overseas Zhejiang compatriots and academic research to understand Zhejiang’s overseas immigrants.
